What is a kiosk?

A kiosk is a temporary fixture or stand that can be used a stand alone display unit. It is usually placed in high traffic areas. A retail kiosks function is to draw the attention of the customer to the products placed on it in high traffic areas. It can also be used as a space saving solution. These usually prove to be low cost alternates to market products or services.

Even if one wants to display a big product like a car, a small kiosk can do the trick. If there’s a new model of a car that’s been launched, one car is placed in the open kiosk with one or two sales staff. Customers can touch and feel the car and questions, if any are directed to the trained staff. This helps majorly in informing a large numbers of customers at a low cost and in the most effective way.

What does a kiosk do ?

The biggest function of a kiosk is to increase interactivity much more than than in a flagship store – in a store a customer needs to enter the store, at a kiosk, you can approach the customer. Their compact size makes them flexible and movable.

The biggest benefit of having a kiosk style display is that your audience becomes wider for two reasons – one, due to the placement of the kiosk and two, due to the its accessibility from all sides. Audience engagement level is also high. Even while they are passing, you can interact with them due to the inherent nature of sampling in this layout, for example a spritz of a perfume.

To sum up, a retail kiosk –

1. Dispels information
2. Maximises spends
3. Quick interaction with customers
